Dr. Henry Jekyll, poursuivant ce qu'il conçoit comme l'œuvre de sa vie: séparer les deux natures de l'homme, le bien et le mal. Ses pairs lui refusant leur aide, il commence des expériences sur sa propre personne. Cela fonctionne mais le résultat est … choquant.
La nature mauvaise du Dr. Jekyll ressort dès lors comme une identité séparée: Edward Hyde. Hyde commence à assassiner les membres du Comité de Gouverneurs qui ont précédemment refusé leur assistance à la cause de Jekyll. Pendant ce temps Jekyll combat en vain pour tenter de garder sa moitié la plus sombre sous son contrôle.
Prise dans le feu de cette lutte interne, on retrouve la fiancée de Jekyll, Emma Carew (appelée Lisa dans certaines versions du spectacle); son père, Sir Danvers; le meilleur ami de Jekyll, John Utterson; et une prostituée nommée Lucy qui est empêtrée avec Hyde.
Ce spectacle confronte des personnages issus de classes sociales opposées, nous offres des scènes qui nous amènent bien souvent à frissoner, et nous propose un personnage principal tiraillé entre les deux extrémités de la moralité. Mais sont-elles à ce point séparées? "Comment voyez-vous la différence entre le bien et le mal?"
Jekyll & Hyde est une comédie musicale gothique pleine de passion basée sur le classique dilemme entre le bien et le mal. Le chaos règne et le mal se cache derrière chaque coin de rue, mais l'amour et la vertu luttent avec acharnement tout au long de cettre œuvre à suspense. L'un des musicals les plus connus de Frank Wildhorn (qui a aussi signé 'The Scarlet Pimpernel', 'Civil War', 'Dracula', …). Il a été joué un peu partout dans le monde et le double rôle de Jekyll et Hyde chanté par le même chanteur est l'un des plus complexes du répertoire, vocalement parlant. Même si le succès est resté mitigé à Broadway (où il a été joué plus de trois ans), le succès mondial ne s'est jamais démenti (Allemagne, Japon, ….)

The production had a "bombastic stage set," many special effects (especially lasers), and "incredible voices." Singing sensation Raphael starred in the show, and was the first Jekyll anywhere to carry all regular performances without an alternate. He was joined by Marta Ribera as Lucy and Margarita Marban as Emma.
Following its run in Madrid, this production went on tour in Spain and The Canary Islands.

La mise en scène, doublée d'une scénographie et d'un travail sur la lumière prodigieux, en a fait un spectacle total où se succèdent des scènes à très très grand spectacle (aaah le laboratoire de Jekyll) et d'autres beaucoup plus intimistes. Il faut dire que les chanteurs étaient aussi de grandes pointures: Gasoy-Romdal et Drew Sarich ont joué Jekyll/Hyde. Anna Montanaro, Michaela Kovarikova et Lucy Diakovska se sont succédé dans le rôle de Lucy, et Nicole Seeger a incarné tout au long Lisa.

The tour began with a run in South Korea from August through November 2009, and played in Taiwan in June and July 2010. It is also hoped to play in China, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia (plans to be announced). The tour is directed by John Diedrich (Titanic, South Pacific) and choreographed by Jo Anne Robinson (Cats, Phantom of the Opera), with music direction by Peter Casey (Evita, Cats, Les Misérables). The cast is mostly Australian, with American Brad Little (Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll & Hyde, Jesus Christ Superstar) in the title roles. He is joined by Ana Marina (Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Titanic) as Emma, Belinda Wollaston (Titanic, Mamma Mia!, Assassins) as Lucy, Juan Jackson (Miss Saigon, Man of La Mancha, Cats) as Utterson and Barry Langrishe (Titanic, Les Misérables) as Sir Danvers. Lucy Maunder (A Little Night Music, Bat Boy, The Rocky Horror Show) played Emma for the Korean leg of the tour.
